I am often asked this question in terms of my new art and the art in this section. Where do these “new release” artworks come from? Do you invent them from a random chest of ideas or are they dreamed up and then the next day created?
My answer to my adoring fans and my not-so-adoring critics is that most of my work is born out of creating a body of work for an idea for a future exhibition. I do on average 5 exhibitions a year. Every year! So I have art for them. Some works in this so-called ‘New Releases’ selection are art pieces that have not been resolved in decades that I have finally gotten around to resolving or there are those works that I created 10 years ago and I have reworked to a point which aesthetically pleases me.
Additionally, there are works that I feel are so iconic and once-off, like the Melting Pot works or the Looking Glass panel, that they stay permanently in this section because they are New Ideas that never get old in my mind’s collection. But for the sake of the line up I have below, and for the satisfaction of the initiated and interested audience to this website, the New Release section is a cut-away glimpse, a little bit of an ordered list in terms of what I am thinking about at this point in my career and in my life.
Sculptures by Tay Dall and Zoë Chowney
In the Cairn sculptures, every element is infused with individual mark-making, as the artists hand-paint each component. These painted elements transform the stones from humble, everyday objects into vibrant, spiritual icons. The careful, deliberate design of each rock cluster echoes the principles of unity—separate pieces come together to create a cohesive, striking whole, emphasizing the balance between individuality and collective strength.
A cairn, traditionally a pile of stones created for a specific purpose, often serves as a marker or symbol of intention. The sculptures in this series mirror this purpose, becoming beacons of meditation, peace, and gratitude. Each cairn can be seen as signifying an offering of grace, a personal intention, or a wish for someone in need. The Cairn series invites viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with the grounding energy of the sculptures, offering a meditative space for introspection and serenity.

Floor Works
The idea for the floor works came to me as an experiment. I had all the recycled off-cut pieces of material from my canvas workshop sewn together. I then taped the canvas to the floor of my studio which consequently caught the paint droppings, the wine spills, the cigarette ashes, whatever stuck to the bottom of my shoes etc. I left the canvas tacked down in my studio, sometimes for up to a year, before framing it and the rest is history. After I feel the work is done, I cut the canvas into the right shape, clean up some of the smudges and overkills and add my own mark to finalize the piece. My floor art now becomes a tangible history and story of what work I was painting during that period.

Remnants of a Broken Order
These works are about the conclusion of the story I have conveyed in this collection. They are a unique combination of two styles embracing, languid pools of colourful pigment nestled in the crevices of thin black lines, floating peacefully within the world of the raw canvas: a new world, a new order. These pieces emanate from a sense of resolute calmness and compromise after severe conflict. When two opposites join they may create a better form. It speaks so true of the human condition, that if we accept positive change, if we compromise and cooperate with each other, then this symbolism parallels the story of the human condition, a collective understanding that says we can fix together anything that is broken and make together a better original idea.

Rhythm Flow Series
This series of works is about the energy and flow that happens kinetically in the air, on a microscopic level beyond the naked eye. At least that’s my mind’s view of this work. It’s the life and movement of things in the crevice of a thicket of trees in a forgotten forest, it’s the warm zephyr winds blowing seeds and detritus here and there. It’s the chaos of life beyond our ordered sense of life. It’s the same idea of a hot summer night, a light breeze and you turn on a flashlight and all the dust and flying things floating and moving with the air are suddenly illuminated and really cool to look at. Or the early morning rays of the sun backlighting the myriads of dust particles floating about endlessly. Life never stops.

YGGDRASIL
Thin delicate lines, torn paper words, dark matter where there is no shadow without light. The light reaches the branches of the tree, reaching out like cilium, synapses of the brain, determined rivulets moving knowledge, energy, sensations, love, hate, life and death. Yggdrasil is the given name in Nordic folk law to an immense mythical and spiritually charged Ash tree. To the Vikings, this tree was the epicentre to the cosmos, of heaven and earth, yet another ubiquitous idea of the tree of life and knowledge. But an idea nonetheless that we can relate to as humans reaching out to improve and explore and most importantly expand our understanding of where we fit into the story of the universe and that of our own inner selves.
